Re: Have we all seen this yet?

Maybe the NFL had an issue? Personally I think NPPL (Performance) would've been a better choice from the beginning.

Re: Have we all seen this yet?

i am willing to bet that the 300+ lawyers of the NFL "kindly" asked them to change the name.

as for the new time, i think that it is a horrible choice:

1) it does give you any idea of what the actual sport is.
2) it sounds terrible
3) good luck trying to explain to someone what it is about. fitness is kinda easy to explain but saying something like "oh have you watched the Grid game last night?"

Re: Have we all seen this yet?

What does 'grid' have to do with the sport of fitness? Absolutely nothing. No reference at all to what people are doing in this league.

Do they grid? Are they gridding? Are the athletes gridders?

Re: Have we all seen this yet?

@Jason Fischer I think Budding would actually answer yes to your questions. He does want the athletes called something like "gridders" and the sport they're performing to be called "gridding" or something like it....that was the feel I got from the exhibitions I watched. Personally, not a fan of the grid terminology. Basically every other sport has a court or a field (I suppose you can have a soccer pitch). Grid almost seems like artificial nomenclature used to force differentiation...imo, would've been better off attempting to differentiate themselves in ways other than a unique name for the playing surface.

Re: Have we all seen this yet?

What a horrible horrible name !

No only does Grid mean nothing, it puts some limitations into the format as well

The PFL (Pro Fitness League) would have been better

Re: Have we all seen this yet?

so far i have yet to see a single person in any of the media outlets (here, FB, twitter etc...) that thinks that the new name makes sense or even sound good. it sounds to me like they were forced to change their name and went with the first thing that they could think of with no market research or even a focus group.

Re: Have we all seen this yet?

Apparently a few of the "big dogs" have jumped ship because they have been threatened in losing sponsorships, etc. Also Progenix is talking about walking away also.

Mind you this is ALL rumors, but Briggs, pancheck, ben smith, katie hogan, trinidad, and Valensula have all left because of such reasons.

Now who would put pressure on these folks and a vendor company such as Progenix to do such a thing (if these rumors are true)?

Will be interesting to hear the facts about all this when they do finally come out. Because it always comes out sooner or later.
