Top 3 brings sizeable money home. 275,65,35 while 4th brings 10k which ain't bad. If you're top 10, you might win an event and get some extra cash too.

But compared to a season of NPFL, an athlete stands to make a lot more money they can count on for some weekends.

Something like mid August to before Christmas makes sense. Maybe even in January but not past it.
If you're a network though, why would you want to anything from August to January? That's head to head with the monster than is college and pro football. If it's up to a network it'll be during the summer when the only competition is MLB. Athletes will be forced to choose between the league and CF

I don't see a big network picking them up.

ESPN3 or Spike, maybe.

I agree, but any network regardless of size would be competing against football if they televise during the fall. I'd be shocked if a network made that choice instead of sticking to the summer where the only real sporting competitor is baseball

Spike has been playing this Bar reality show. Episodes after episodes...they need something, anything.

They already play MMA fights or a series.

Emily Bridgers, Nick Urankar, Brandon Philips, Noah Olsen, there are a lot of names showing.

More top athletes signing with NPFL teams:
- Neal Maddox
- Talayna Fortunato
- Chyna Cho
- Alessandra Pichelli
- Cheryl Brost

It's looking more and more like a season conflict between the NPFL and the CrossFit Games would be detrimental. Ideally, athletes will be able to compete in both.

Re: Have we all seen this yet?

The NPFL would be wise to not conflict with the crossfit games, the regionals or the open

This gives their athletes their current marketability

the last thing 'competitive fitness' needs is direct rivalry.

if the NPFL hits back, will be interesting to see what Crossfit's next move would be

I disagree with this, although it would be hurtful to the games. Maybe not this first year but in the 2nd year if I was an owner I would think hard about telling athletes on my team they could not compete in other events that might result in injury and them missing time in the NPFL.

Re: Have we all seen this yet?

I think the NPFL offers more marketability. Right now the value of an athlete is tied to how they perform where they get the most exposure, i.e. the Games. If they don't make the games for a couple years in a row, you bet your butt their sponsorship is in jeopardy.

Compare that to being on a team that's going to get national exposure 6-10 times a year, and the investor gets a much bigger return for their investment.
