Have we all seen this yet?
http://profitnessleague.com/ wfs
Heard about it awhile ago but now the website is up. Didn't know Budding wasn't part of Cf anymore. |

With CF going so large stuff like this was bound to pop up. Got to get the Ocho to carry it. Reminds me of Dodge Ball a bit.. need some villain people to mix it up. Dodgeball meets Roller derby.. Hope it gets the support and I will watch it. I am over 40 so will be ready for the call if it comes.

I'm over 40 and willing to play for pay! We'll see if this actually happens.

I saw this in FB (won't say where). Not sure if this is real or what. Regardless, if people are willing to pay to watch, then there will be people getting paid to play.

So if this takes off, I see crossfit games athletes being courted to play.

Re: Have we all seen this yet?
It would be very hard for this to take off, I mean think about how much money it would cost just to keep the league legal. As an organisation they will have to overlook copious amounts of legal documents, contracts (ensuring they are "legit" as they have quoted on their website), sponsorships, athlete sponsorships etc. just to ensure there is a level playing field. Then you look at the insurance costs (which due to the unfortunate injury to an athlete at the OCT will be going up for CF type events), equipment costs etc.
As an "investor" or an owner of a team you have to pay salaries, for training, travel and probably physio, chiro and the like for injury recovery. That is alot of overheads to account for for a start up venture. Atleast HQ get big $ from the opens and major sponsorships from Reebok, Rouge and the like enough to cover these major financial hurdles. |

Re: Have we all seen this yet?
My comment from another thread on this topic:
Here's a podcast where Tony discusses why he's doing the NPFL. http://www.kennykane.com/tony-buddin...itness-league/ (wfs) Highlights: "I started to realize that I would have to move on." "I just resigned from CrossFit three weeks ago," (stated on Dec. 19, 2013) Tony discusses good relationship with Dave Castro. He also discusses that a fitness league is a very different business model than the seminar-affiliate model of CrossFit, and that's some of the justification for a separate venture. "My interest in the mainstream stuff wasn't aligned with Greg's interest and where he wanted to go. Greg owns CrossFit; it's his company, his baby. He wins. I'm not fighting him. I'll discuss my ideas, but it's his company. Throughout 2013 I was becoming increasingly aware that my role in the world wouldn't be a part of CrossFit HQ." "There were legitimate attempts on both ends for me (to stay). It didn't work out. I knew I had to leave." I get the feeling that Tony's role in media was overshadowed as CrossFit media has grown and now includes larger interests (like ESPN). His tone throughout the interview is positive. |

Re: Have we all seen this yet?
This is very interesting idea though making the game of fitness into a pro league like NFL, MBL, etc. Do you think top dogs like Rich Froning, Dan Bailey, Kalipha, etc would retire from the Games and go into the pro league where there may be opportunity for growth? Crazy thought. Would be interesting to see its first season in the summer.

Re: Have we all seen this yet?
Sure enough. It's no longer online. Oh well. I typed in the highlights that related to Tony leaving CrossFit. The rest of the interview (most of it) talked about how the idea for a fitness league came about, and his excitement about the project.
