Re: 2016 CrossFit Games

10/27/12

Nice day in Florida, just relaxing in a tropical storm...

Strength:

Bench Press: 5 sets of 3 at 105Lbs

Squat: 5 sets of 3 at 145lbs

Push-Ups: 75 with Strict form, chest 1 inch from floor

Pull-Ups: 50 with 15 lbs of resistance

WOD:

Row 2K: 7:48

Not great but not bad. PR by 30 seconds.

If anybody reading this has advice on how to improve or change my strength programming I would love to hear it. My strength is improving relatively quickly but im sure there is still a better way out there that I could attack it.

Re: 2016 CrossFit Games

Great job man....sorry I must have missed it, but what sport is it that you play? As far as strength training goes, I think you're fine for right now while you're playing sports and still trying to master certain CF movements/exercises. Basically if you're looking to get considerably stronger it's going to take a little specification in your training towards just that. Very hard to get great strength gains while still doing a lot of metcons. I've been successfully attacking this for my current competition training by switching up weeks between heavier lifting and lighter (mostly metcons). But I know this is not going to last very long, I just haven't happened to plateau yet. If you want, follow the link in my sig to my journal...maybe the current programming from my box and coaches will give you some ideas for now.

Re: 2016 CrossFit Games

I'm a Tennis player during the first few months of the year. My season is over now so it's going to be almost all CrossFit. I am relatively happy with the strength gains but I can see how eventually it may just need to be focused on. I have my first competition next Sunday so we will see how that goes. It's just teams but it should be a lot of fun. We are also going to start an Olympic Lifting class at our gym so that is going to be huge help as well. I appreciate

If you know any others, how do my lifts compare to any other 15 year olds?

I am 14
Bench: 150x1 fairly recent, 145x2recent
Squat: 175x1not recent
Deadlift: 240x1 not recent
Clean: 70kg 154x1recent
Front Squat: 154x1 fairly recent
Snatch: 55kg 121x1 recent
OHS: 62.5kg 143x1 fairly recent

I am now at the point where I can squat clean more than I can power clean. I will get to this point with my snatches very soon. This is where I starting to feel pretty stong, for my age and weight.

Re: 2016 CrossFit Games

Thanks Jack. That's good to know. Most of your lifts are ahead of mine, in fact, all of them other than squats and Deadlifts. what about your gymnastics movements?

Bello-

Haha yeah, I suppose I could see how you would get that from my log. I must not have specified that before, sorry.

Good to hear from all of you guys!

Re: 2016 CrossFit Games

I haven't tested most gymnastics movement for ME sets, but here goes

MUs set of 5 kipped
Pull ups set of 15 strict
HSPU just finished set of 4 stict
Push ups I can do 40 chest to deck easily

Thanks for the question, now I'll get to find my other ME sets.

Those are pretty sweet numbers. Sounds like I have some catching up to do.

Hopefully I'll see you at the games sometime too. Haha.

Re: 2016 CrossFit Games

10/29/12

Pretty Fun. We had our tennis lunch today to celebrate the season so that took a few hours.

Practice:

Split Jerk: I spent about an hour and a half just doing random split jerks at 115. Probably ended up doing well over 50. Good practice.

WOD:

10 Minute AMRAP

10 KTE
10 Pistols
10 Sledgehammers
1 Run up and down the stairs

4 Rounds+30 Reps Scaled using a ring for the pistols.

Then...

ME Ring Dips:

I got 8 fatigued which is still a 1 rep PR. Pretty good, I'm sure Jack up there can do about 15 though haha

On a side note, I got my first pistol today, I guess all that time in Reno paid off.
