Farmer Walks/inner knee injury

Hi,

I was hoping someone may assist me please ?

I attempted some farmers carries yesterday 90kg in each hand for about 25 meters/6 sets.

I did not feel any injury whilst performing exercise but a few hours later noticed the inner side of my knee sore. There does not appear to be any swelling but I can nearly put my finger/press on the sore spot. It is quiet small spot but pretty painful.
I can squat (body weight) but my knee feels tight towards the bottom of squat.

The worst movement would be to attempt a pistol or something like that.

Wondering if meniscus/tear? But did not feel until some hours later after training.

Any help would be much appreciated

There is not much in that area besides the Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) or the Meniscus. The MCL is one of the 4 main ligaments in your leg -- MCL,LCL are on the outside/inside of your leg. The ACL/PCL are on the backside sorta inside the knee joint.

Do you have any degraded lateral stability in the knee?


Usually either of those injuries listed above are serious or severely aggrivated would trigger alot of swelling, or serious range of motion issues along with accute pain rather than "soreness"

I would just ice the area, take it easy for a couple of days, take some anti-inflammatory meds like naproxen or aleve, do some stretching and go from there. Ice, Compression, Elevation (ICE) If it swells up or continues to cause pain I would seek some medical attention.


I have an ongoing knee issue with my left knee, I tweaked it recently and took nearly a month to get back to where it felt good on a 1-10 scale. Just takes rest/recovery sometimes. Thats your bodies way of saying chill out for a lil.

There is also the MPFL, which is a small little ligament that no one has ever heard of but that is really important in stabilizing the knee.

Also, mobility! Foam roll your IT band and that may help, since if that's tight, it could be pulling on the kneecap, which can cause medial knee pain.
