PETA Fail.
Just saw this and am so frustrated after reading the press release by PETA in the link.
http://calorielab.com/news/2009/08/1...board-offends/ (WFS) "Anyone wishing to achieve a hot “beach bod” is reminded that studies show that vegetarians are, on average, about 10 to 20 pounds lighter than meat-eaters. The meat habit can ruin the fun in other ways too. Consuming meat and dairy products is conclusively linked to heart disease, diabetes, and several kinds of cancer — not to mention higher rates of infertility in women and impotence in men." "Studies show"...."conclusively" God that language just ****es me off to no end when they throw out blanket statements with ZERO citations to back it up. And I'll never forget a few years ago when they advertised incessantly to change the name of fish to 'sea kittens' in order to make them more cute and less appealing as food. Oh and that billboard sure is classy. |

Re: PETA Fail.
I'm not sure which annoys me more, people whining about being insensitive to fat people, PETA or outright lies?

Re: PETA Fail.
"It has real panther in it, so it must be good."
I'm not much on movie quotes, but I find that movie funny. My favorite part though is when she agree to go out with him, and he has to "walk it off." I was working in the "Wellness" office of a large multinational corporation today. They answer the calls from employees trying to lose weight or get more healthy. They literally had the Food Pyramid on some of the cubicle walls, with the Fat at the tip (use sparingly) and the Grains at the bottom (6-11 servings daily). I saw that TODAY. The amount of lousy information out there is unbelievable to me. Now, if the PETA folks don't want to eat meat for moral reasons, I have no issue with that, but the simple fact of the matter is that I CANNOT abide the abuse of facts towards that end. Once you pervert science, you pervert society. Science is best used as a means to shared truth. Once our faith in it is gone, we may as well go back to might makes right. In some segments of our scientific world, that may as well be the motto even today. |
