Re: Fish Oil Recomendation

I don't have 100% control of the air I breath. I do have control over what supplements I put in my. I am 80-90% paleo and limit the amount of processed foods I now consume. If I could afford 100% grass fed protein sources or to move to a place where we could kill it and grill it to live off the land I wouldn't have a problem with that.

I'm far from a tree hugger type but I do try to do my part in conservation.

I tried to get Uncle Ted to adopt me but that didn't happen.

This kind of reminds of a comment on a thread I saw a long time ago on a Jeep forum.

Arguing over the internet is like running in the special olympics, even if you win you are still a retard.

That was directed at myself more than anyone else so don't take offense to it.

I'll control the things I can and won't stress about those I can't.

It would appear you have never had the honor of working with Special Olympic athletes. Broaden your horizons here

I wrote an answer this three times... and three times I erased it. That comment

is hard to overlook.
impressive.

Frank, I'm interested.

I also get the fish burps from the Costco Kirkland brand. I was searching for a new cap, so I'm happy to have stumbled onto this thread.

Re: Fish Oil Recomendation

The cheap Kirkland caps aren't enteric coated, IIRC. The more expensive/concentrated caps are coated and won't give you burps. You can also freeze the cheaper ones if you'd like.

when are gelatin capsules enteric coated? Enteric coatings on tablets.
Burping is related to the condition of the oil.. ie.. old vs new.. heat/light exposure vs not.

and yes.. freezing the oil eases the digestion of the capsule.

thanks.. we didnt know that.

for those that are interested. Have a phone appointment with the company tomorrow.

Re: Fish Oil Recomendation

Any idea of how many doses per bottle and price? I doubt I'm in but just wondering just in case I could get throw down any cash.

I'm generally just doing the TJ distilled fish oil caps or Walmart brand at 2-4 caps, hopefully 3-4x a day but honestly sometimes just 2-3x ( once in morn, at night and during day or night ).

A number of brands offer enteric coated gelatin capsules - whereas I've never seen fish oil 'tablets.'

That is, again, one of the differences in the 'cheap' and 'expensive' Kirkland caps.

Burping is often related to the point at which the oil is digested (ie stomach) - which is where the enteric coating or freezing comes in.

The person to whom I responded, who was getting the fish burps, apparently didn't.

But feel free to butt in.

Depends on the dose you're aiming for.

The Ascenta has 2.3g of EPA/DHA per 5ml of oil. A tablespoon would have 6.9g/15ml - if you're aiming for 12-15g/day a 200ml bottle ($26.99 through bodybuilding.com, don't know if a CF bulk price would be cheaper) would last you a hair less than a full week.
