Re: Broke into Skill Level 3/Advanced Athlete Today!
Folks,
This is the first I've stumbled on these skill levels. How are these implemented? Or are they just standards to gauge performance? I assume these are all max-effort exercises? |

Re: Broke into Skill Level 3/Advanced Athlete Today!
Bob, the explaination for the levels can be found here http://www.crossfitseattle.com/athletic_skill.html (WFS). Basically it's just another way to evaluate your general level of fitness and a method to check your progress. I'm currently working on level 2, though when I tested for level 1 I came close to meeting the 500m rowing standard for level 3 so now that I know what it is I want to try again and see if I can do it. I'm part of the women's thread working on getting through the levels and I think there's a men's thread as well (try searching the workout logs section). Hope this helps, happy CrossFitting!

Re: Broke into Skill Level 3/Advanced Athlete Today!
I'm bumping this thread instead of starting a new one because I have a question regarding the skills chart. I can do everything on level 2 except the muscle up, and most of the things on level 3. My question is: does one have to complete all the skills assesment in a certain time period (day, weekend ect) or just have to keep track of what he/she can do and claim they are at that level or go through all the tests at once?
To put it another way, would I be level 2 (intermediate) the second I nail the muscle up or would I have to test the others skill again? |

Re: Broke into Skill Level 3/Advanced Athlete Today!
To answer what qualifiers for 'passing' a level, the rule is that you should be able to meet all requirements for a level in a 30 day period.
The idea is that you're well-rounded, so you shouldn't be spending months focusing on running/rowing to check them all off, then shift to strength to check all those requirements off, but instead when you're at the appropriate level you can all the skills together in the spirit of crossfit and having overall fitness. (hopefully that made sense) |
