Anyone own a reverse hyper?
Am thinking about taking the plunge, every time I go to the chiro they give me a scared straight talk about how my spine is getting ready to start growing bone spurs. Definitely have some permanent compression going on.
http://www.pfcfitnessequipment.com/v...m.aspx?pid=105 (WFS) Louie also sells them on his site. I've found them for 1400-2500 bucks. |

Re: Anyone own a reverse hyper?
Don't own one, but recently started using the reverse hyper at my YMCA. I didn't even know what the thing was until the recent Louie Simmons threads!. I've been using it as a desk for my WO journal for the past year, since virtually no one uses it. I like it, but have only done them a few times as supplemental exercises at the end of my SS workouts.

Re: Anyone own a reverse hyper?
You could also use a pommel horse without the pommels on it. Rather than reverse hypers they're usually called hugging the twinkies...

We have one. Everyone uses it and everyone's squats and Deadlifts have risen dramatically. Incorporate with GHR.

Are there any that cost under $1,000?

Re: Anyone own a reverse hyper?
I haven't done it yet, but from pictures I've seen, if one has a power rack they aren't too hard to DIY with some wood and plumbing pipe.
Get a plank of wood that spans the safety bars of the rack, pad the plank with high density foam and fabric (or a pillow,) and rig some plumbing pipe on the underside to pivot at the top and and hold weights at the bottom. A loop of cloth connects the pipe/weight to the ankles. |

Re: Anyone own a reverse hyper?
I just found this page yesterday. They call it a back extension (I'd imagine because so few people know what a reverse-hyper is.) I may have a chance to look at one this weekend. I'll report if so.
wfs. scroll down about 1/3 of the page: http://005673a.netsolhost.com/2006_C...TALOG_2006.htm |

Re: Anyone own a reverse hyper?
You can do them off the bulky end of the GHD... At least thats how I have been doing them. Again, just like the pommel horse, called Hugging the Twinkie (as demonstrated by Nicole at the Toronto Cert in Oct).

Re: Anyone own a reverse hyper?
I started using one at my Uni gym last week after the Louie threads. I have been having a lot of lower back tightness after Deadlifting and after long training rides on the bicycle. The Reverse Hyper makes my back feel incredible. I hate it when people talk about magic exercises, but this really is magical for my lower back.

Re: Anyone own a reverse hyper?
I'm not making any claims here - just passing along information I spotted last fall. $500 instead of $1500 and up. Check this:
http://www.mycorevolution.com/product-information.php (safe) Yeah, it's off an infomercial, but Louie Simmons was interviewed when I saw it on the tube and seemed to be involved in the deal, so it looks legit. That's all I know. |
