I found Crossfit and CF Las Vegas in the course of my training for a climbing trip to Alaska this summer. Before the trip I trained extensively with Joe Marsh and Crossfit Las Vegas. Joe was such a huge asset and motivator and I was more than fit for the trip.

Unfortunately, the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry and our trip fell victim to the Alaska factor.

I have written a trip report with some great photos and thought I would share it with the Crossfit community. Perhaps my efforts will inspire others to keep striving for fitness and other lofty goals.

The trip report is in a work/family safe post in my blog...

I hope you enjoy.

P.S. I wasn't sure if this was a post for testimonials or community. It's not really a testimonial since I didn't get to put my crossfit training into effect.

Wonderful blog and story Nathan. I'm sorry you got Alaska'd out of bagging your peak. I've done Rainier but you drive to the kick off point, we didn't have to ski 6 miles. Very, tough experience for me as altitude wipes me out. You'll get and take another shot at it I'm sure and we will all be eager to see the pictures.

Just to keep everyone in the know, Nate pours his heart (and guts) into every workout. Sorry the trip was mostly a wash dude. See ya tonight.

Welcome to AK, Nathan. Someone should have warned you that if you come up here in June it can be very, very difficult to ever get back out! I mean... why would you want to?!? =P

Old roommate of mine had pretty much the same thing happen on Denali. The were at the base and ready to go, and the weather blew up and shut them down for several days. He was pretty bummed, but experienced enough to know that S&*T happens.

For what it's worth, you have my respect for making the tough decision.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I'm glad people are enjoying my story.

Kenneth, it actually means a lot to know that people respect me for my actions. Respect and honor are highly valued notions in my life.
