Never thought I'd post in this section of the message board, but I was very excited to get a triple at bodyweight for (yesterday's) the WOD.

BWT: 185
OHSQ: 3x185

I was not sure if I could pull it off, as I felt a little unstable under 175# and 180#, but once I got to my "goal" weight, I decided I was going to nail that set come or high water, and it felt as smooth and easy as my warmup sets where I was focusing solely on technique.

I had never done this exercise prior to Crossfitting and now I am determined to get my snatch up to bodyweight and maybe beyond. For that matter, I'm going to see about lowering my bodyweight to make that task a little easier ;-)

My wife also tore through 7 sets at a weight that she previously claimed she could not do. Go Cate!

185 is a lot to overhead squat for a triple. Good work, man. How are your other weightlifting numbers coming along? I am also working on getting that bodyweight snatch.

Haven't snatched in a while. I think I pulled a muscle in my abdomen (went to see a doctor about it, he thinks the same thing) and arresting the momentum of the snatch to rotate under it makes the pull hurt. Last time I did overhead squats, I snatched 155 to get the weight up overhead on each set, but that's partly because I didn't have squat stands then. Apparently I can OHSQ more than I can snatch, since it was pretty ugly getting the 155 up for sets of 5.

Anyone else purchased the World Class Coaching DVD that covers the snatch? I read Dan John's review and it sounds like it could help my form. I have always found the snatch to be much harder than the clean & jerk to do correctly.

ps. thanks everyone for the support and rah-rah. Especially considering that I am much more impressed by the numbers that you guys (eg. Tony B) have put up. Much obliged for your kind words.
