Re: What are you reading?

Right now I'm reading "The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress" by Heinlein.

I also read "Winesburg, Ohio" this year. A very poignant "Slice-of-Life" written around 1910. I can recommend it without hesitation.

Re: What are you reading?

If I'm not misremembering, there were a lot of ex-SS at Dien Bien Phu. One general there said if he had had more, they would have held.

The Germans were excellent soldiers, and not all of them were personally bloodthirsty savages, although they were clearly unprincipled conformists. Have you heard of the book Frontsoldaten? I haven't read it, but have heard it was interesting.

Re: What are you reading?

I'm in the middle of "Song of Susannah", the 6th book of The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. The series is fantastic except for the 4th book. I am ready to finally make it to the dark tower.

Awesome series, if a bit slow at times. Without spoiling anything, I'll say I enjoyed the ending, but I know a lot of people who didn't.

I rather enjoyed Thirteen but preferred Altered Carbon. I was interesting how they changed the name for the US market. It is called Black Man in the UK

I've finally finished reading Quicksilver after starting it six years ago. A very interesting read even it it does meander along and occasionally get lost in exposition. Lots of interesting stuff on the creation of the nation state, history of the stock market, birth of science, religious wars and cryptography

Re: What are you reading?

Well, I finished Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" and I don't know what to think about the series now.
