Exactly. It's more of a wanting to be raised in Sparta and living with their culture and growing up in their army rather than training with them.

the only big ones in latin, really, are livy and tacitus. polybius, plutarch and (strabo? maybe?) some others all wrote about rome in greek

This is a tough one...

In no particular order:

Rhabdo (Dude's just awesome, even though I couldn't remotely keep up)

David Belle (though this would be less CF and more PK, where I still couldn't keep up)

Enkidu (Dude would probably kill a WOD)

Alexander III of Macedon (was he as tough as he was fabulous? )

My boyfriend (who is sadly hypothetical at this point, and really needs to turn up already)
