Re: 100-0 : Your thoughts?

from the losing schools website

"(80% to 90% of DAs graduates attend 2- or 4-yr colleges)"

They have learning disabilities, ADD, ADHD, dyslexia and the like. These aren't physcally handicapped or retarded kids.

Re: 100-0 : Your thoughts?

My wife teaches LD kids. They are special needs that's why the label.

Going to college isn't the same as being on a basketball team.

we have a different system up here, they have different meanings. Special needs is actually almost politically incorrect at this point in the peoples republic of MA.

i supposedly had adhd growing up....honestly, its a huge crock of S***. it's a cop out.

on that side of things, at one point I was in GATE (gifted and talented education) as a kid. They did stuff to challenge kids that were severely bored in a regular classroom with the material. Then they cancelled it, because it wasn't fair to the kids who weren't as smart. awesome attitude.

You still have to be able to hit the shots and make the plays on offense and defense. If an NBA player were playing against 5th graders (exaggeration for a reason...), he'd still have to be able to stand behind the 3 point line and hit the shot. Go to the gym and shoot 3s that are completely uncontested--you're the only one on the court--you still have to hit it (btw, don't take this as attacking you, because it kind of sounds like it...I'm using this line of yours to make a more general point).

Where're the complaints that Maryland scored only 13 points in the first half against Duke this weekend (with a second half that wasn't much better)? Should Duke have let up because the other team was so clearly outmatched and they weren't going to "learn anything" by steamrolling them?

No matter how badly you're winning you still have to execute, and you can learn from successful execution (no pun intended with "killing the other team").

Re: 100-0 : Your thoughts?

You're right, basketball and college are not the same, but nothing on the schools website would seem to indicate their students are physically or mentally incapable of high acheivement in both. THey may take more work to get there, but not incapable.

again, from the website

"Our Mission: Dallas Academy restores the promise of full academic enrichment to students with learning differences. Our staff establishes a meaningful connection with each student to overcome barriers to success."

And again, you can't ask to be in the league and then ask to be treated differently. THey should have played a less talented team, but in the same way my rugby team should play other D3 and D2 rugby teams and not the All Blacks
