i watched the exhibition match yesterday and liked it quite a bit. it was fast, heavy and offered real chance for people to shine. those 36" box jumps were brutal. i am also very happy to see so many great athletes in the mix and you can see how strategy plays a huge role in how the match will go.

As a side note...that didn't take long for the NPFLs first Achilles tear. Hope for a speedy recovery for Jamie.

oh is that what it was? i thought it was a cramp or something since she kept holding her quad. man, that's too bad but those were tall boxes and very high pace.

To be fair, the opportunity for achilles injuries is present whenever rebounding box jumps are done, not just in the NPFL, but it was pretty sad to see that happen. She was one of my favourites. Overall, I found it to be fairly entertaining and the graphics and live leaderboard seemed to be better than what CrossFit uses during their streams. Still not sure if it will take off though.

That was the point I was making. When can high rep rebounding jumps finally be eliminated from training/competition (be it CF, NPFL or whatever)?

Well, we've banned them at our box and from the competition we're hosting in August (Thailand Throwdown 2014 -- WFS). And I've been hearing from a few other boxes that they are also dropping them. So change may be coming slowly.

i wish they would ban them completely. just make it so the athlete has to full stand at the bottom. it just unnecessary risk and for what? saving 10-20 seconds?

I'm alot more excited for this after watching tonight's competition.

They added a "Current Reps Left in this Station" graphic that really improved the experience the second time around. Also, becoming more familiar with each event helped me to focus on the actual race rather than trying to figure out what was going on.

Now they need a Toronto franchise and I will be super happy.
