Is 6ft 1 too tall?

hi guys

Im quite new to cross fit and i have noticed that the top 10 seem to be between 5.5 - 5.10ft

does being taller (6ft1) have a disadvantage is some areas of crossfit if i wanted to compete?

Sure, any lift up from the ground will take more energy, since there's a longer path to travel. It can take longer to do the same rep - a tiny difference at first but after 10, 20, 30 reps it adds up.

You might have an advantage running or rowing though....

Re: Is 6ft 1 too tall?

That is the most common height range for the top 10 CF games athletes, but there are lots of instances that break the mold:
Blair Morrison 5th place 2011 games: 6'
Spencer Hendel 9th 2011 games and 13th 2012: 6'2"
Chad Mckay 9th 2012 games: 6'
Nate Shrader 14th 2011 games and 12th 2012: 6'1"
Aja Barto 21st 2012 games: 6'5"

I think you're too tall. Cut off a few inches and you'll be amazed how much better your wod times get!

Not for rope climb. Where I have to take 4 pulls to get 15 feet, you take 2.

Who cares?
Didn't stop Doug Flutie from playing football. Didn't stop Sean Sherk or BJ Penn from being champions in weight classes where most guys are 3+ inches taller than they are.

Hell Jason Khalipa won the 2008 Games and he couldn't even (can he even today?) touch his toes because his hammies were so tight...I think even Matt Chan might be the same way.

Re: Is 6ft 1 too tall?

My BMI says 6'1'' is too short, not too tall.
