Hello, I don't know much about cleansings or suppliments but was recently asked about www.isagenix.com . I have never heard of it. I am quoting what was being asked:
"this cleansing system is supposed to get rid of all of the toxins in your body, a friend lost 7 pounds in a week and another friend of mine has lost 9 and 19 inches. I was wondering if you would check it out and see if you think it is safe and even worth doing." Is anyone knowledgable with any of this? I personally am not into supplements or "cleansing" for health and fitness. Zone eating and CrossFit has worked for me. Any advice would be great. |

Cleanses are a farce IMO. We have some very sophisticated detoxification machinery and all you need to do to make it "go" is have good amounts of veggies, protein and exercise.

Robb, I totally agree but I can not articulate why. Telling a teenage girl "this is ridiculous IMO and eat veg, protien and exercise" will not impact her the same as educating her. Would you mind elaborating a little? You are a wealth of knowledge and I really want to be able to explain why .

Ditto what Robb said..
A toxicology question… finally!!! To my knowledge, the methods of “cleansing toxins” that are relatively safe/effective involve specific counteragents to specific toxicants, administered by a doctor, in a hospital, under very careful observation. Dialysis for kidney patients is another example off the top of my head. Tell her that this supplement will possibly introduce more toxicants than it will eliminate, and that she would have better luck letting a few dozen big fat leeches suck on her (please don't tell her that, it was just a joke). That link you posted does not look like a supplement company? Would you mind trying again? Brad Toxicologist, Safety Sciences... for big (really big) pharma |

Toxicologist Brad,
Great, give me more info. on why it is even necessary to detox if at all. www.isagenix.com not so concerned about the company as I am about the whole "cleansing" sham. (Message edited by sanfilippo on January 21, 2006) |

Re: Is this safe?
How would you explain these athlete testimonials?
http://exfatboy.isagenix.com/us/en/s...athletes.dhtml I have noticed that many of the products contain whey protein, though usually not in Zone ratios. Could the improved performance of these athletes be attributable to merely higher protein-to-carb intake, or might there be something else? |

Eat food - not too much - mostly plants.
This stuff isn't food. Nuff said. |
