Fedor is a sham-wow

Since fighting Cro Cop in 2005, Fedor has beaten:

Wagner Martins - who?
Mark Coleman - one dimensional steroid wrestler
Mar Hunt - drug addict (watch the smashing machine)
Matt Lindland - never beaten any top competition
Hong Man Choi - circus side show
Tim Sylvia - Hasn't won since a foot shorter 50lbs lighter Couture whooped him
Andre Arlovski - lost to Sylvia twice and now has a glass jaw
Brett Rogers - didn't he fight a couple months ago here in Halifax??

Then loses too Werdum, who Dos Santos highlight reeled and Arlovski has beaten.

Even Cro Cop.. like, that dude is a soup can, maybe back in the day in Pride he was great, but as soon as he stepped in to the UFC he's been beaten by a who's who of fighters that have been CUT by the UFC. Fedor isn't even close to being the greatest of all time. He dodged Couture his entire career, fights past their prime former champs, and allowed his management to keep him out of the UFC to save his fight streak.

Loser.

Re: Fedor is a sham-wow

meh, Pride was a whole different balliwack and most the Pride guys did not transition well to UFC.

Going from boxing rink to a cage is much more difficult than you think. And even more than that look at the time structure. In Pride the first round was 10 min!!! That added a large element of endurance and reading your opponent. It is sort of like Rugby vs Football, the shorter rounds of UFC favors shorter burst, explosive fighters, whereas Pride favored guys who had more endurance and didn't blow their load to quickly.

I mean shoot, look at Shogun's first fight in the UFC, he got beat by Forrest, who is awesome, but a far inferior fighter as far as skill is concerned.

I agree Fedor's management has done his legacy no favors the last ~3 years, but the reason he and Cro-Cop haven't done well in the UFC is because they spent so many years fighting under different rules in a different environment. That should not take away from the fact that they are both BadAsses in their own right, and amazing fighters.

Not to mention the drug testing

Re: Fedor is a sham-wow

I think the title of this thread is extreme. I just looked at a list of UFC heavyweight champions over the past 10 years. OP, aside from a younger Randy Couture, who do you feel could have defeated Fedor in his prime during that time span?

Agreed - no need to read further than the line about "Mar Hunt" being in Smashing Machine.

Re: Fedor is a sham-wow

I'm not a Fedor fan, but to have that long of a win streak is no small feat. He fought the best guys that were in his promotion and won. Usually in the first round. Big Nog, Cro Cop, Lindland...those guys were no joke when he beat them.

Re: Fedor is a sham-wow

Mark Hunt - under .500 MMA record.. Mark Kerr - Smashing Machine.. my bad

My point is, in 2005 Fedor was 28-29, he fought Cro Cop, and since then through the rest of what should have been his prime, has fought no one. He is still only 34, M-1 has helped him dodge the UFC all together. He wouldn't fight Randy Couture, Randy even left the UFC to open up the possibility of the fight. Brock became champion three years ago, he dodged a contract to fight Brock then at the age of 31. Since joining strikeforce he has avoided at all costs fighting Alistair Overeem, and in doing so has now lost to two Heavyweights who according to the fanboys weren't even on his level. Any of the current UFC heavyweights would beat Fedor. It's like trying to say Jaromir Jagr is the best hockey player in the world.. well, he is excellent, did well at the World Champions, but he plays in the KHL now.. how can you compare to the real big leagues over here in North America?
