Re: paleo "change your life in 30 days"

Has anybody done this challenge and then as a result, no longer had the ability to digest dairy?? Just wondering. I'm not technically doing the challenge but, well, I guess I am. So...Nothing from Monday after Super Bowl until sectionals is going into my mouth that isn't paleo. Doing it more for recovery and optimum performance over anything else.

Anyone?

Wanna know why? I didn't cheat. I even survived the valentine's day dinner, LOL. But I had originally chosen to keep drinking a sip of red wine once or twice a day, and I used butter to sautee my broccoli. After reading Melissa Byers's blog and how she commanded us to go 100% strict for these 30 days... I decided to man up and make this day 10 my day 1. I'm sure I was on route to seeing good progress on my paleo + wine + butter (after all, in very small quantities, and they're not starch or sugar or anything.. in fact, I plan to add them again after the challenge. But I have to do it. I just can't live with myself if I'm incapable of a mere 30 days of super strict paleo.

So, back to day 1.
Why don't you just call it "Primal Blueprint" and enjoy Day 10? If you want to be more strict, be more strict, but don't start over. That doesn't solve anything.

Re: paleo "change your life in 30 days"

Quick question. I know the paleo recommendation about lean meats, fruits, veggies, etc....

I also know proponents of the paleo diet that don't recommend the zone say that you can eat all the paleo you want and not worry about getting fat and you'll stay healthy.

What if you have portion control problems with meat? Doesn't that defeat the purpose and keep you fat? Because honestly every time I've gone paleo I've gorged on meat or nuts because I don't really like most vegetables .So I'll sit down to eat dinner and have like more than a handful of almonds, a little bit of broccoli and then like a pound and a half of meat.

There's gotta be some portion control recommendation on paleo. Because honestly that doesn't sound too healthy for me and I haven't really experienced any changes when I do it because of the high amount of calories I'm ingesting with that much meat.

Re: paleo "change your life in 30 days"

Jason, just make it work for you. I eat small meals 5 or 6 times a day because I like to eat in that style. And I eat protein and carb each meal. My advice would be to make yourself eat some meat and some vegetable (even if you don't like vegetables) each time you eat. Eat fresh vegetables. They are completely different from canned or frozen. Find a few you can swallow and then experiment with new ones. Put some olive oil over them. Eat up. Meat by itself isn't that filling to me. You need some fiber.

If you want to lose weight, you don't want to overdo it on nuts and fruits.

Re: paleo "change your life in 30 days"

Posted this on another thread but this one is probably more appropriate - I have been on Paleo for over a month now and love it. I just started getting into tea. I only do caffeine free herbal and don't add any honey, sweetener or dairy - just the tea. In doing some research this seems legit. Should I limit my tea intake though? I know it is calorie and carb free so I am assuming there will not be any spikes in insulin, etc. It is sad - I am actually really excited about this tea thing...LOL It feels like I am cheating
