Fran ?

Are you "allowed" to switch grips on the pullups for fran? Do some palm out, some palm in?

sure, you can grip it however you want. it just depends what your goals are, if you are wanting to get the fastest time and your grip gets weak with the normal pull-up grip and you need to mix it up, thats fine. Just make sure you get your head fully over the bar, unless you want to go chest to bar, of course.

I find that I dont have as much flexibility in my shoulders and elbows when i mix up the grips.

Re: Fran ?

Yup, anyway you can get it done. Switching grips might take take unnecessary time though, especially if you are gunning for a sub-4 or sub-3 time.

Re: Fran ?

Fortunately (unfortunately?) I don't have to worry about breaking 4:00.

Re: Fran ?

So I did my first full weight fran a month or so ago, and I felt it was an accomplishment not to have to scale it. I did it in ~11:00. So today I wanted to do it in about 9:minutes or so. Well I was thrilled to crank fran out in 6:55!
Except I mistaken loaded the bar with 75 lbs instead of 95!
Maybe next time.

Re: Fran ?

Nice step up Eric.

Did it hurt significantly more? When I took > 10 minutes to do Fran, I didn't understand what all the fuss was about.

The lower my times get (they're not that low yet), the more it hurts, and the longer I'm messed up for afterward.

Re: Fran ?

In hindsight the slow 95lb Fran was a lot tougher than the faster 75lb fran.

Re: Fran ?

I knocked out my first ever Fran today in 8:38 and I've been CrossFitting since mid-August. The lady sure looks innocent enought but she packs a wallop. That's gotta be one of the toughest 8 minutes in memory...I'm still spent and it's been a few hours.

Sure was. After I realized what I did I banged out 3 sets of 10 95lb thruster and deadhang pullups.
