Re: Why do you train?
This might get long:
Crossfit: I have a disability and I was always the weak and frail kid growing up. Training makes me stronger, more capable of doing things that normal people can and a lot of things normal people cannot do. It helps to balance the strength disparities in my body. It helps to ward off the nasty side effects of aging with Cerebral Palsy. I love pushing my body and my mind. I enjoy the pain, it makes me feel alive. I like the aesthetic side effects, but I like that I only look as capable as I am. I'm interested in health and fitness. I don't want to be a fat, lazy, slob. Cycling: I have a competitive streak 5 miles wide. I like the pain and pushing myself. I love racing. I love riding as well as most of the able bodied people in town. I like having that constant thing in my life that I enjoy through all of the pain and hard work. |

Re: Why do you train?
Tons of reasons and the order of importance depends on the day or hour
- Climb Mt. Rainier (my initial reason for CF and happening in a week) - I love to compete, so this gives me an outlet in my post college days - I'm a much happier person when I'm active - I love the challenge - Pure vanity - My bum knee feels 10 times better when I'm in shape - To kick *** on any pickup bball court - To accomplish other goals (maybe a triathalon? half-marathon?) - Keep my work clothes fitting me (those things are pricey) - The people you meet along the way (CF being an AMAZING way to meet like minded folks) Who knows, but Vanity, Happiness, and the competition are probably the ones that jump out the most often. Overall though the combination of all of those is that I feel better as a person and it lets me be prepared to do anything my adventurous mind can think of. |

Re: Why do you train?
I want to see what I can do. I want to find out, finally, how much is too much.

Re: Why do you train?
Because my body wasn't made to sit for 10 hours a day and then go home and sit some more.
Because the world I live in may not always be a safe place |

I do CrossFit Because: Pushing myself for just those few minutes everyday makes me a better person I love the challenges, camaraderie and brains of this outfit. This is everything I've been looking for in fitness and it's free! I'm in better shape at 37 than I was at any other point of my life and I played sports in H.S., etc. and I'm still getting better/stronger/faster It helped me lose 50 lbs 2 years ago and I love my new lifestyle and will never be overweight again. |

Re: Why do you train?
Nothing planned yet, I am saving up some money to get the AKC certification, and I am still using my Dragondoor kettlebells for training. I am probably good for a set of about 40 reps in the 2x32kg Long Cycle right now, but I really need some technique work. Right now I am just being patient.

![]() I like being better than the average person. I am very competitive by nature. I don't like feeling weak. I like to eat hamburgers, french fries, pizza, and popcorn with extra butter. ![]() |

Re: Why do you train?
Aaron Trent raises an interesting sideline issue here;
" I like the aesthetic side effects, but I like that I only look as capable as I am" Complete 180-degree difference in focus from bodybuilding, eh? |
