WOW.

Haven't rowed in weeks, haven't tested our 500m in months(?) .... so we didn't expect PRs ...

I checked the world rankings ... I'm 330 in the world for this season, 11th in Canada ... not bad for a non-rower!

Jodi ... all I can say is wow. She destroyed her previous PR!! That puts her 1st in Canada and 37th in the world.

That's wicked. Get Jodi a row boat and get her to the next Olympics!

The fact that you both set PRs when not really training the 'sport' for weeks and months, just proves again how Crossfit prepares you for elite perfomance in many sports and physical tests.

I had a question about equipment. I am looking into ordering from the internet or buying locally, some quality equipment for home use. I contacted Bigger Faster Stronger and it would cost me $500 just to get a good olym. bar and two 25 lb bumper plates. The shipping and duty taxes are half the cost.

Anyway I would love to find a kettlebell or two and some quality weights locally if possible. Do you know yet where you will be ordering the equipment for your new Crossfit gym? I was thinking if I buy similar equipment then eventually I could use this equipment at Crossfit in the park or the new gym and help in some way with equipment demands on busy days. (eg. another pair of rings for the summer or a kettlebell)

Thanks Corey!

Unfortunately, there's not much for local options. Well, none, really. Every Canadian affiliate we spoke with, even in the big cities, said go to the USA. We will more than likely be going with York for bars, bumpers, and plates (get in touch with Allison Foreman from these forums - she's awesome). We may also pick up a few Pendlay bars, but we'll see what the budget says.

5 chinups
5 pushups

5 rounds of:
5 situps (hands touched the floor at head and at feet)
5 squats

Turkish getups x 20 (holding 10lb dumbbell in air entire time)

Handstand practice

We wanted to keep things light-ish today...turns out those complexes were a lot harder than we thought they'd be. haha!! After that we played around with the muscleups on the chinup bar and then decided on a little healthy competition ... we raced each other on the situps and squats, and the turkish getups. Overall, it was a fun day.

oh...and PS - I won! :wink:

Overall
We got up early and went to the gym to get some deadlifts in before Crossfit in the Park. We literally finished our deadlifts, then drove to the park to train with our Saturday group ... ouch!!

My deadlifts felt a lot smoother this week. Jodi's looked great - and I can't believe she'll be doing 200x5 next week! Woooo!

The burpees weren't too bad, but the legs were pretty tired.

Here's how the park session went down ....

Crossfit In The Park
Warmup with stick:
10 deadlifts
10 front squats
10 hang jump shrugs
10 push jerk
10 clean & jerk

100 Burpees for time OR 15 minutes - whichever comes first
Jeremy - 8:03 - UNREAL
Drew - 8:22 - Gave Jeremy a run for his money!
Anthony - 9:36 -
Lydia - 11:11 - I think Pukie was knockin - great work though!!
Jodi - 12:40 - Burpees give her panic attacks (for real) so this was a huge accomplishment
Tracy G - 13:58 - This is Jodi's Boss ... Jodi probably won't have a job on Monday! LOL!
Corey G - 14:22 - That was the slowest 100th rep I've ever seen - but you got it!!!
Tracy A - 93 reps in 15:00 - So close to 100! Next time for sure!
Mark - 88 reps in 15:00 - First time Mark joins us and we throw him in the fire! Haha!
Josh - 81 reps in 15:00 - He MIA for awhile but he's back for more ... I wonder if he'll be back after this one!
Stacey C - 75 reps in 15:00 - She's a trooper! Nice work!
Allan - 70 reps in 13:05 - Unfortunately Allan was dealing with an elbow injury and had to take his time ... heal up soon!!

Dwayne: thanks! Unfortunately we won't be at that cert, but we do have plans to make it out west at some point. We are actually attending a cert this month, though! Can't wait!

Throwing ...
We went to the park and threw some rocks with the traditional putting style (at least I think it was). I was getting 30-35 feet with a 15-16 pound triangle rock, awkward as hell, but best I could find. Jodi was hitting around 28-32 feet with an 8 pound rock, although she was wearing mittens and I think the rock was losing force as it slid/spun off her hand.

Either way, much work needed for both of us. :-(

I did the workout at the UNB gym today. It was very hot in there and I had about 8 inches from the top of the chinup bar to the ceiling. haha! I didn’t bang my head once though. Anthony and I both felt good today and both got in a great workout.
