What's your schedule look like 8 weeks out?
Hey all,
For those of you who fight, what does your training schedule look like in the 8 week run-up to your fight? What is your focus at specific points throughout the training camp? Is it much different to your normal training? I'm trying to plan my 8-week "fight camp" at the moment. I'm going to be fighting at 68kg, and currently walking around at 71.5kg. So, weight isn't an issue. What I'm thinking of doing is using the first 4 weeks to concentrate more on general conditioning, including aerobic power production, and the following 3 weeks to focus on fight-specific skills and intervals, and the final week as a deloading week. I hope by deloading for a week, my body can recover and I'll be able to enter the fight at 110%. Thanks guys (and girls!) |

8-7 weeks out...change nothing.
Last week: CUT WEIGHT!!!! That's how I've done it for the last few years. I'm sure that there is a much better answer, but I can totally screw myself up trying too hard to program it out. I'm better off just following my routine until the last possible second, and then wishing I'd have not put on the extra 12lbs. ![]() |
