I have climbing rope, how do I safely install it on my rig!?

Hey everyone, I just picked up the Bomba Climbing Rope from Fringe (WFS) - and I'd like to attach it outdoors on my homemade rig (Pictures here WFS). What would be the best way to merge these two items, and preferably some way that I can take it down and put it up relatively easy.

Ideas?

Looks like you could just loop it around somthing or get a shackle and do it that way. Either way is easy enough.

If you want something easily removable, get a carabiner with a heavy weight rating. Get some heavy-duty U-bracket and long, thick lag bolts from the hardware store. Bolt the U-bracket to your wood rig. The carabiner can clip between the rope hardware and the U-bracket.

Some ideas: http://www.functionalhandstrength.co...cessories.html (wfs)

I was hoping to use it on the middle pipe going across the top. Nothing really to bolt it onto I don't think.

Oh, I see. If you get a pipe clamp then, like the third picture down in that link, then you could still have a carabiner. That specific clamp says not for outdoor use, but you could find one that is good for outdoor use.

If I were doing that option, I'd use a little section of foam pipe insulation between the pipe and the clamp. That would create some friction that would keep the clamp from slipping. You'd still want the clamp to be as tight as possible.

If you make your way through the link Christopher sent, it shows an attachment to a pipe.

Some good ideas in there, I could browse Home Depot/Lowe's to make a custom built clamp

Exactly. So long as the clamp's inner diameter is the same as the outer diameter of your pipe, you'll get a good fit. The photo on that website is way too loose.

How about some climbing gear like this?

http://www.rei.com/product/755451/me...mm-nylon-sling (wfs)

Loop it over the pole and then use a locking carabiner to secure to your rope anchor. Try to avoid metal to metal contact - don't connect the carabiner to the rope anchor directly.

If you go this route though I would take it down after each use since UV is pretty rough on slings. Not sure if you want a more permanent solution.

You can use a short length of chain + carabiner the same way mike suggested above. 1/4" or 3/16" would be pretty cheap at Lowes/ HD/ TSC
