Re: V's Log

SWOD
Power Clean 5x3 @ 95lb

DWOD
Death by Power Cleans & Pull-ups

1st min - 1 Power Clean @ 80lb + 1 Pull-up
2nd min - 2 Power Cleans @ 80lb + 2 Pull-ups
etc.

Completed: 5 Rounds + 4 Pull-ups

I did the strength portion first which probably hosed me for conditioning. I thought I'd get into the 8th minute but not so much. Pull-ups were the clear limiting factor, did most of them in singles.

Spent 10min with the rope as a warm-up and to try to get double-unders. I had one successful attempt but wasn't able to get the next jump in (even as a single).

Re: V's Log

DWOD
12min AMRAP

10 Front Rack Walking Lunge @ 45lb
10 Supine Ring Rows
10 Ball Slams @ 14lb

Completed: 5 Rounds + 8 Ring Rows

SWOD
Press 3x5 @ 70lb
Squat 3x5 @ 102.5lb

First round the ring rows were great. Broke them up every round thereafter and the last round was fugly. Was hoping to get six full rounds.

Reset the press, probably should have gone another 5lb down but whatevs. Uncharacteristically did the press before the squats to give my legs a bit more of a break from the lunges and to get more time to stretch them out. Seemed to work well.

Signed up for a partner competition at the end of Oct, looking forward to whatever it turns out to be.

Re: V's Log

Forgot to mention yesterday that during my double-under practice there were several occasions when I was able to get multiple singles after a double. Today I was able to get a double, several singles, another double and several singles. One good stretch in there but much of it seemed pretty off.

DWOD
Every 30sec for 10min

1 Power Snatch @ 70lb
1 Reverse Ball Toss @ 30lb

SWOD
Deadlift 1x5 @ 135lb
Pullups 3xmax (5, 5, 5)

The conditioning for today was challenging but I really, really liked it. I wanted to do 75lb on the PS but when warming up it just felt kindof off. I was working in grass and dirt instead of on the pad b/c I wanted to be closer to the ball. I had some smooth PS but several were muscle snatches.

Re: V's Log

DWOD
6 Rounds

15 Push-ups
40yd Sprint
(rest 45sec)

Completed: ~12:30

SWOD
Squat 3x5 @ 105lb
Bench 3x5 @ 120lb

Push-ups are my Achilles heel. Broke them up into sets of 5 for every round. Figured it was going to affect my bench and it did, as a couple of reps were a fight.

Had someone watch my squat and I'm leaning my torso forward a bit immediately before I come up out of the hole, but everything else is staying tight. That favors it being a core issue as I guessed. The first rep on the last rep was solid, and it progressed from there. Not drastic, but enough that it makes the higher weights dubious until I fix it.

A couple of hours rest and then jiu jitsu, we'll see how that goes.

Re: V's Log

DWOD
30 Ground to Overhead @ 45lb

Completed: 3:03

SWOD
Power Clean 5x3 @ 97.5lb

Wish I had something heavier for the GTO. Used a plate, need a big ball or my sandbag that's in storage.

Re: V's Log

Started off the day with Niki going over movements that I thought we might see in competition. Apparently that took a lot out me, because the conditioning WOD was AWFUL...

DWOD
5 Rounds

5 Push Press @ 80lb
7 Pull-ups (used rings)
9 Bar over Burpees

Completed: 14:10

SWOD
Squat 3x5 @ 100lb
Press 3x5 @ 72.5lb

I was just wrecked by dwod. Had to dial down the squat weight because my legs were me NO.

Re: V's Log

DWOD
4 Rounds

1min Max Push-ups
1min Max OH Walking Lunge @ 15lb
1min Max Russian Twists @ 15lb
1min Rest

Completed: Best round was 18, 18, 48

SWOD
Deadlift 1x5 @ 140lb
Max Broad Jump @ 64"

The push-ups went better than expected, probably b/c I did them in small sets. Every round of lunges started off great then hit a wall 3/4 of the way through. Overall happy with my effort.

Surprised myself on the broad jump, thought 60" would be the best. Haven't tested this in years, if ever.

Re: V's Log

DWOD
8 50yd Sprints

SWOD
Squat 3x5 @ 102.5lb
Bench 3x5 @ 122.5lb

Sprints were done over somewhat uneven ground. The goal is to keep going for it until you feel your effort starts dropping off. Felt ok at #7, but for sure #8 was a drop-off.

First couple set of squats felt ok, last rep felt too hard. I don't think I set my breath right. Bench felt good, 125lb and possibly 127lb should be doable for that rep scheme.

No DU practice today.

Oh yeah, bought a pull-up bar that you can hang from trees or wherever so I'll have something in the backyard instead of going in and out of the house. Was expecting more wobble. I have to stabilize it a bit when I'm on it but not bad.

Re: V's Log

DWOD
Tabata Deadlifts @ 115lb

Completed: 41

SWOD
Pull-ups 3xMax (5, 5, 5)

My reaction when I first saw the DWOD posted:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I went back and forth on which weight to use, as my 1RM is sitting around 185lb and my working set weight is 140lb. As I was warming up 115lb felt about right. Wanted to go up to 120lb, but wisely didn't. First five rounds weren't bad, last three took mental push to get the quick reset and back up.

Happy to have had a steady pace and form throughout.

Re: V's Log

Yesterday...

DWOD
Every 90sec for 6 Rounds:

3 Push Press @ 85lb
6 Pull-ups
3 Broad Jumps

SWOD
Squat 3x5 @ 100lb
Press 3x5 @ 75lb

Conditioning was solid, had around 30sec to rest between rounds. All of the pull-ups were done as singles. Could've done doubles or even triples for some rounds, but was worried about fatiguing my arms to the point that I'd be barely finishing in the time limit. Love, love, love the outdoor pull-up bar.

Squats were ridiculously hard for some unfathomable reason.
