Re: 500m Row Times

First ever 2k row today after heavy back squats.

7:13.7

If/when I do it again I'd obviously like to come in fresh, and I'd probably jack the damper up just a touch.

I think I have sub 7:00 in me, pain is going to be having to do this again to try and find out.

I can not remember the last time I did a 2k to be honest. Will try and knock one over soon and let you know.

Re: 500m Row Times

What are people's 1K row times like? I got 3:21.7 today, a 16 second PR . Did make me wonder why I did it...

Re: 500m Row Times

The 2k row is usually what is done in rowing competitions. It's that 'tween distance. Like the 800m run. Too far to sprint, too slow to pace. Just 7-8 minutes of a complete suck-fest with about 2 minutes after where you truly believe you would feel better if you just ripped your lungs out through your mouth.

I did 3:10.6 a few months ago, which was pretty painful.

What a great way to describe it
"after where you truly believe you would feel better if you just ripped your lungs out through your mouth"

Re: 500m Row Times

Typically the erging community says "double the distance and add 5". This means if you pull 1:30 for 500m you should be able to pull 1:35 pace for 1k, and about 1:40 pace for 2k. This usually holds true for full time ergers who are doing distance work on the machine, most Crossfitters are usually much stronger on the short distances.

I checked my times and for me it's more like "double the distance and add 8-10. That's pretty much across the board from 500m to 10k and yes, I'm much better at the shorter distances.

I'm the same.

500m - 1:27.1
1000m - 3:13.5
2000m - 7:02.9 (only done it once)
