Is Zone a Routine Diet?

CrossFit is all about training for the unknown and unknowable..
The workouts are random and the body adapts to different stress levels preparing the body for any contingency.
The Zone Diet requires you to be diligent, measure foods and ration macronutrients.. More importantly eat the healthiest of foods..
Here's my question..
Is the Zone Diet propagated by most CrossFitter's in sync with CrossFit's fitness ideals..
You are what you Eat.. So does the Zone make you flexible? Can u adapt in a similar 'physical' emergency.. what happens if Im competing and the food's quite ****ty..
Will performance suffer as a result of not having the exact ratio of macronutrients and blocks.. Im sure this has been discussed before.. Somebody please send me a link..
Cheers

Re: Is Zone a Routine Diet?

Physical preparedness is about being READY for the unknown, not doing the unknown. To that end, controlling what eat to increase recovery ability, which in turn increases physical performance (assuming you are providing enough of a stress that you need to recover from).

THe increase in phsyical performance is what makes you ready.

Re: Is Zone a Routine Diet?

"Somebody please send me a link." Somebody please search.

The "book" Zone has been altered significantly by CF'ers...buy the CFJ and read many articles on this subject, and search for robb wolf's article 42 ways to skin the zone.

Physical emergencies don't really last long enough so that our overall nutrition is affected i think. I guess maybe if you're a forest firefighter or in a war/battle or something, but then you eat what you can i imagine and no diet "plan" will work.

Lastly, IMO, it would be a stretch to even call what most CF's on this board eat as "zone." The marconutrients are changed so much, and a more paleo diet is usually suggested; although I understand that the zone is the "official" position. I say, if you want to WAM, do so, no need for the zone.
