This officer is getting screwed. How much political mileage can the police chief get out of this.

I've been to a lot of police retirement parties and they always have these skits. The talk radio stations are already lining up on both sides. Remember, this is San Francisco, an extreme left political town. I have a sneaking suspicion this is going to blow up in the police chief's and mayor's faces.

We had a discussion about humor a while back, and I think a lot of people don't understand gallows humor, or the types of stress which engender it.

My view on Political Correctness is that it is an effort to shame people into behaving and believing that what SHOULD be true, IS true. And, the theory goes, by acting that way, the ideal becomes the real.

To the extent that it encourages people to be nice, it's a good thing. However, to the extent that it prohibits genuine and honest dialogue, it is actually harmful to the very groups it ostensibly helps. You can't address a problem you can't acknowledge.
