Coconut Milk Kefir

What is the paleo party line on Coconut Milk Kefir?

The title sounds paleo but the ingredient list does not. I realize the ingredient list is more important but I am still not sure about this new (at least new to me) product.

So what say you?

I'd say make your own and you won't have any doubt.

There is a yahoo group for kefir, somebody there will probably send them to you for free if you ask.

Great site on kefir, including coconut kefir.

Re: Coconut Milk Kefir

I have some dried/dormant that you can "re-activate" which I don't mind sharing, but I haven't tried re-activating dried grains yet myself. You may also be able to find some live and active grains locally through a yahoo group (wfs links):

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Kefir_making/

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Real_Kefir_Making/

I got my first active grains from Kelly Moore through this board. Search the boards, there are others here that make their own kefir.

Re: Coconut Milk Kefir

Oh and Kurt's link is what I referred to a LOT when first playing around with kefir. Great site.

Re: Coconut Milk Kefir

I did kefir before I went paleo but have since stopped. My Dad makes it daily, though, and he has tried putting the kefir in coconut water (not coconut milk). He said it didn't work, even after leaving it out for a few days. Anyone know why?

I would definitely try this if I could get it to work.
