I've heard accounts on these very forums of people talking to all sorts of mythical/spiritual beings while doing 20 rep squats and the like, so it could happen.

Accept no excuses, only results

Re: man dies during race

Reality starts to break down at the end of a 20 rep squat set, anything is possible, including those last 2 reps.

Herodotus has the guy talking to Pan in the middle of his run, and Plutarch didn't write about him until half a millenium after he was supposed to have lived.

The current world treadmill record for a 48 hour period is 405km, so it's not like it isn't doable. I just have my doubts that a message this urgent wasn't sent by a guy on horseback, is all.

But, from your other posts you I presume you know more about ancient Greece than I do, so I defer to your better judgement.
actually...i secretly hate all things ancient most of the stuff i learned in greek civ has trickled out of my head. lol.

but plutarch quoted from a lost source that lived in the 4th century bc, so i'm more accepting of his interpretation than herodotus'.

most historians leave the gods out of it. herodotus was starting a new genre and basically travelled around writing down oral traditions and legends from varoius places...but i'm pretty sure that stuff stopped after thucydides' history of the peloponnesian war.
