Roasting macadamia nuts ?

hey there
well i used to eat nuts unroasted as the heat damages the omega 3 fatty acids yet when i try to eat the unroasted macadamia nuts i feel it is weird so i started roasting it and i feel it is much better yet i am not sure if the omega 3s are ok or wat so what about you guys do you eat it roasted or not ??? also there is this thing that happened with me :
my gf made me eat this cinnabon and i felt bad after doing that and when i went to do the WOD the next day i couldn't complete the 1st round and went home and when i came back the next day i did it ok so does this mean no cheating in the zone ??? it is ok for me but my gf will kill soon

Re: Roasting macadamia nuts ?

personally, I don't think you can improve on a raw macadamia nut; in fact, cracking them open and eating them fresh from the shell is one of life's greatest gastronomical pleasures.

so I vote for fresh...

as for the cheating... ye, it does the same to me and many, many others. and the effect gets worse the stricter you are and the longer you stick to it.

I can't even buy raw locally. I buy and eat the dry-roasted kind all the time. They are still good for you (high in monounsaturated fat).

According to the USDA Nutrient Database for macadamia nuts (WFS),:

http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcom..._search_new.pl

the difference in O-3's is negligible (.206 g/100g unroasted, .196 g/100g roasted).

You can rinse most of the salt off with water if you'd like.
