Thumbs up Zone Blocks consumption ??

I am new to the zone diet and i can’t have much access to the books or anything but some articles about it in the crossfit Journal ,hope to get the book soon, and i was thinking about the complete block thing that if you eat something it has to be X protein, X carbs ,X fats and i wanna ask if it is possible to use only the individual blocks like one meal i get 5 protien and 2 carbs and 5 fats one meal 7 protien and 6 carbs and 2 fats something like that and just don’t pass the day without consuming the 25 complete blocks ???

Re: Zone Blocks consumption ??

scroll down to the bottom of the page... see the 5 related previous discussions? Each of those threads will have a 5 related to.

Start reading those, since you dont have a book those threads are actually a better option as they are the book of real school application and troubleshooting the zone.

There sooo much info here about the zone .. sear should really consider using crossfit people as input for his next book.

ahem... he needs to learn what the block system means.... aka staying in the zone... aka in balance... aka ... same blocks per each meal = zone thus hormonal balance.

so joey.. to dispell my lack of zone knowledge ;here.. frank's insight...

the basis of the zone is the 40 -30-30 ratio ... Its the required balance that makes it la piece de guerre to achieving success. Like anything in math, the ratio stays the same.. why??? cause the required balance is the zone.
the ratios of cho , pro fat are the fuel and the burners. Every time you eat the cho fuel the brain and prevent ketosis. the pro is the basis for body repair and manufacture of tissue, and replaces the gylcogen that you need to burn fat. Fat is the fuel for glycemic balance , appetite control and hormone building and balance.

so with that being said? how can one maintain balance if the ratio is altered?
too much cho on one meal... elicits insulin release and you have now have insulin burning the sugar... not the fat stores.
too much protein in one meal, you have ketosis and that leaves you with less protein for glycogen storage, poorer performance for prolonged activity.. ( ketogenic diets are example of the is.. good for weight loss and muscle building during strength workouts... but you end up dying on runs.)
too low protein meals .. you end up burning glycogen for activity instead of fat burning.
fat in high numbers will give you fuel, able able to burn body fat better but you may end up feeling less hungry and tend to miss meals
low fat ... you end up burning more cho and proteins and have swings in blood sugars, and hunger.

work for you joey?

abdel.... its about balance .. not numbers.
