Impressive as always.

Do you get all your training in with crossfit atlanta's wl club or are you part of another club as well?

Re: 135kg (297lbs) Snatch

I am just curious. Why do you set yourself with the hips that low, if when you start pulling they go WAY high even before the bar moves?

I don't know anything about Oly Lifting, just a fan but not technical. This made me curious because your torso gets nearly horizontal while you're moving the weight off the floor. This, personally, I find interesting, because that's how I pull my DL's. I cannot for the life ofme pull anything beyond a warm-up weight without my torso very "horizontal" (or nearly). I can keep it flat, low back very flat and all, but the angle is similar to thisangle of yours (I just took a screenshot of your video). See the attachment here.

I have convinced myself that this is the way I will always pull a conventional DL, no matter how many people tell me to lower the hips, heh. Sorry if this constitutes hijackin'

Re: 135kg (297lbs) Snatch

Arturo: the height that I set my hips at is misleading, this is just to allow me to better tighten my back. I've had issues with it in the past and this seems to help. My positions are exaggerated because of my height but this particular video is about as extreme as it will get. That was a true max lift and my legs aren't very strong so it pulled me in to a more horizontal position than normal. That being said my normal "submaximal" snatches aren't much different, I've just learned that a high hip start is what works best for me.

Re: 135kg (297lbs) Snatch

The trend now seems to be most lifters starting at the bottom of their squat to emphasize the legs over the hips for the 1st pull.

Nice snatch by the way. How long you been training?
