Need Some Help - No Grains
If anyone can help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'll start by telling you about what I'm looking for.
My wife and I are going to try doing a month with no grains. (little to no grains), and we plan on starting on September 15th. I will eat anything...any ethnic variations, any type of foods, anything really...even the wonderful unidentifiable things I enjoyed when I was living in China for a little bit. My wife...well, she likes meat, potatoes and basic pastas. She likes fruits and peanut butter..stuff like that. She does not like many vegetables at all. What I'm looking for is a link to a site that may help me plan out a month of recipes that will give us the carbs/nutrients we need, without resorting to breads/pastas/rice, and that may provide it without her relying on eating too many green vegetables. I don't know if that can be done in a healthy way, but thats where I am, unfortunately. I'll still be eating spinach, broccolli etc... |

Re: Need Some Help - No Grains
Do a search, there is definetly a very long recipe thread around here somewhere...and you can google "paleo recipes" too. I'm doing the no grain thing for September too, after seeing the results from that "no grain competition thread." Does that include beer!? ugh!
And by the way, why start on the 15th! Start now!! lol |

Re: Need Some Help - No Grains
We're going away for our 1 year anniversary until that day. I'll definitely start working it in asap, but need to get a plan together, especially with my wife's hatred of veggies.
Thanks for the info though...i'll definitely go look it up. |

Re: Need Some Help - No Grains
well you don't have to eat pounds of veggies a day or anything, there is no 'minimum' requirment for carbs per day. If you are doing zone i suppose you will be wanting to get x grams per day, but you can always replace carbs with fat if you can't get the x grams in.
yes there are tons of 'grain free' recipes out there (georges recipe blog), apparently you can do amazing things with cauliflower |

Not the total answer but try these sites:
http://www.modernforager.com http://www.marksdailyapple.com http://www.wholehealthsource.blogspot.com http://www.************* ^^^All except for Robb Wolf are WFS^^^ Robb's site has a meal plan thingy. All the other sites are just good info. I would definitely start there. |

Re: Need Some Help - No Grains
Buckwheat flour can be a flour substitute if your avoiding grains. I make pancakes everyday from buckwheat flour, flax seed, etc.

Re: Need Some Help - No Grains
You could always try Joseph Mercola's "No Grain Diet" book for ideas.
