Moved our Affiliate to Manteca, CA. Grand Opening 1/9/2010

We have been busy moving our affiliate this last week. We outgrew the old place in the small town Escalon, CA (est. pop. 8,000). We figured if we had to move, might as well move to a bigger market, so we found a primo spot 10 miles away in Manteca, CA (est. pop. 85,000). Looking forward to continued growth. Check out our new website www.crossfitexcel.com (WFS)

hey, terry, good luck.

just curious: how are your current clients taking the move? is it inconveniencing them? or are they stoked about the larger space? are you counting on growth in the new location offsetting any client losses from the move?

Hey Sam,
Its been kind of mixed results. Most of the the clients who lived close by were disappointed. We have several clients who traveled a godd distance to the old place and the new place is closer, so the move is making it more convenient and they are of course happy.

We also raised our rates. For existing members we gave them one free month to try out the new location, for most its a ~17 minute commute. We also grandfathered them in at the old rate, $80 per month. They keep that rate as long as they stay with us. Our new rate is $100 per month. That may change when we add more class times. We have plans to expand our schedule as membership increases.

We have had a lots of new interest from local people at the new place. It's still a guess how many old members are staying, we have several who have confirmed both ways, if we had showers that would have helped. Our membership hovered between 30-40 at the old place. Our goal is to hit 50 in 6 months, 100 in a year.

Thanks Paul. Our grand opening went great, we had 27 people show up for our free class. It was nice to be able to fit all 27 inside for a single class. Check out the photos here. Its WFS http://crossfitexcel.com/WOD/photos/?album=4&gallery=10
I really like the he view with PicLens is an feature, try it.

Oh by the way I know your are in Central NJ, I travel to South Plainfield frequently, the company I work for has an office there. Maybe we can hook up some time for a work out when I am out. I usually go to CrossFit Bernardsville, Karrianne the owner/trainer their is great.

Terry, great turn out! I hope 2010 is a great year for you in Manteca! I was going to suggest a Manteca Waterslides WOD for the Summer months, but apparently they closed in 2004. Bummer.

And tell this guy to keep his eyes to himself.

Kris,
That is a bummer. The water slides were open for about 30 years. The land was bought by a developer, turned into a fancy housing project with Homes on the Lake...it all went under last year, kind of sad. A few homeowners are there out in the middle of sand and weeds. But ...We have Dell Osso Farms now with Pumpkin shooters and a Snow hill for tubing in the winter (wfs) http://www.pumpkinmaze.com/picturefi...ers_in_row.gif

And that link to the picture you posted, I thought about commenting on it but just have to leave that one alone
