Re: Hybrid Program Heavy Metcons

My bad. The Deadlifts seem light so I figured the Thrusters might be too.

No worries Joe...

Actually those DL's seem light, but man, they killed my grip towards the end. I agree, under normal circumstances, they are relatively light, but with that workout, it was killer.

You gotta firgure that those were the DL's used at the Games but they did 5 rds of 5 reps and here you have 3 rds of 10, so your grip goes South of Cheese, Fast!

Give it a shot man, it's a keeper!

Re: Hybrid Program Heavy Metcons

I just got back from doing it. It's a fantastic workout. But I absolutely hate it. I'm never doing this workout again. Until I do. You'll have to excuse me, I'm a mix of emotions right now. I can't tell you my time (for security reasons) but I can tell you I missed 10:00 by a very substantial margin.

The Deadlifts were the easy part. Grip wasn't a problem (even without chalk) using a mixed-grip. Thrusters were also alright. But I absolutely fell apart with the Clapping Push-up -> Ring Dip combo. Though that's not too surprising since I've known I have the upper-body strength of your average middle schooler.

Re: Hybrid Program Heavy Metcons

Hey Joe,

Glad you Loved/Hated the workout! I think it's great, definitely one to try again sometime, albeit, not any time soon

I'm stoked someone finally tried one of my WOD's, that's one of my babies...

And don't sweat the time, man. That's why I said it's not a 10 min. blowout by any means. Don't feel bad at all, when I was done with it, I said it's a fantastic feat just to finish it in a decent amount of time. I can't remember what my time was, but it was certainly closer to the 20 min. mark, maybe a little over.

The clapping push-ups and ring dip combo is one that I have found to be much more difficult then you would imagine. My WOD today had 25 ring dips followed by 25 clapping pushups, and lets just say I had to chip away at those clappers!

Keep up the good work Joe, I will try to post some more beauties soon...

-David

wear a thong, cover yourself in oil and do a latspread. sounds easy but really hits you after a few.

It is similar to a burpee but done just a bit slower.

Here are the steps to complete it.

Cound 1 - Squat place hands on floor
Count 2 - Shoot your legs out into the pushup position
Count 3 - Go down to the bottom portion of a pushup
Count 4 - Push up to the top of the pushup position
Count 5 - Make your feet go as wide as possible (Like the leg motion of a Jump Jack)
Count 6 - Bring your feet back together
Count 7 - Bring your feet back forward so you are now in the squat position again.
Count 8 - Stand or Jump.

That is one rep.

Now put your 20 - 50 # weight vest on and try the workout.

Re: Hybrid Program Heavy Metcons

"Explosivo"

5 rounds
1 x 185lbs squat clean + 3 x 36 inch box jump + 5 chest slap push-ups + 7 clapping pull-ps

Make sure you prepare your wrists before hand and feel free to add more weight on the clean.
