Best source to find a box location

Need some help my follow members. I have been looking for a few weeks now and still have not found a decent location to start up my box. I know the area/town in which I would like to start but coming up with no real good leads yet. Any suggestions would be gladly accepted.

Are you asking people from all over the world to help you choose a good location for an affiliate?

If so, why?

Re: Best source to find a box location

There are people called tenant representatives in the commercial real estate world. They get paid by the landlords if you sign a lease. Make sure your dealing with someone reputable that only represents tenants so there is no conflict of interest. They can help you sign a fair lease as well.

Checking your local zoning will give you an idea of what areas are and are not zoned for a commercial gym/health club.

Re: Best source to find a box location

I will give almost the opposite advice to Brian. I found agents and reps to be less than helpful. I always felt that we were looking for such a small, non retail space that they didn't give me the time of day (I dealt with about 4 of them). Eventually I just looked on Kijiji and had luck right away.

There is a better chance of landlords posting spots in their own building and trying to skip the middle man. You have to be careful and have your lawyer look over the the lease, but for both my locations that was the best route for us. By far the cheapest with much less hassle than going with an agent.

Loopnet.com is okay, but Ultimately, i think you'll probably want a professional to help you find the right place. There are a million things to think about when picking location.

Do you have a garage? You could start there for now and then move out when you can afford it.

No garage. No really room at my house. Just going to start out small and build over time.

Re: Best source to find a box location

I used loopnet for months with no real leads. I found my space on craigslist.
