Capitalistic market forces.

I have a feeling we will see a "thinning of the herd" over the next few years...

Maybe we should define "Quality" better... There are high "Quality" coaches who train in garage gyms. 24 Hour Fatness hires low "Quality" trainers to entertain people in state of the art facilities.

The level of excellence in both our staff and facility can draw/repel potential members, but I think they are very different things.

Re: Crossfit Gym Quality

Been operating in about 800 sq ft for over 3 years.
Got 1/2 mile of parking lot in the back & nice Florida weather (most of the time).
No showers here, & minimal equipment.
Everyone is progressing well.

Re: Crossfit Gym Quality

There is one minimum requirement in all crossfit gyms. A Pool of sweat on the floor beneath you. Been open for 5 months and I cant think of one individual that walked into our facility and didn’t get the workout of their life. I guess that’s what keep them coming back and some from never stepping in our door again. Wouldn’t have it any other way. We operate out of 1000 sq ft box and looking for a 2500 sq box because we are running out of space with our memberships going up.
The Quality Control will work itself out. If the Quality of the Box is not up to par - they will surely go out of business because they will not keep members. Some people may have more funding to afford better equipment where others may have to improvise. If you have a solid trainer or coach they will work with what they have and you will get a great WOD.

Re: Crossfit Gym Quality

But having a bad box or a not-so-knowledgeable trainer doesn't just hurt the box that they run, it hurts the CrossFit brand name. Most people will try an Affiliate and if it's bad, they will put much of the blame on CrossFit. Enough of these bad Affiliates will give CrossFit the reputation of having poorly trained trainers. If someone has a good experience, they tell a friend. If someone has a bad experience, they tell ten friends. The bad word of mouth will eventually drown out the good.
