? last meal/snack of day!

My typical diet consists of:
Bfast - 3 eggs whites and 3 whole eggs with a banana (or some other fruit) and almond butter
PWO- smoothie frozen fruit 10oz whole milk and whey protein (dymatize Elite)(My shakes use to only be h2o and powder however I wanted to make it as much as a meal as possible)
Lunch: Usually chicken breast or a couple of thighs and some sort of veggie whether it be an assortment/sauteed greens (veggies usually vary) sometimes some fruit and usually some more almond butter sometimes Peanut butter
Dinner: Usually the same as Lunch was +/- fruit and sometimes PB too (Same meal because I cook a LOT of it Monday for the whole week.
Now here is my issue I work 2nd shift, and try to get my last bit of food in around 9pm, in the past it was a bunch of almonds and a protein shake with whole milk... I am starting to get a little turned off by the shake, and for the past few days have been having about 2 glasses of whole milk and my almonds, but I am worried it is prob not enough protein. I occ. have made jerky but it is too time consuming not to mention pricey, and I know I could always pack more meats etc. I am just looking for a cheap + quick option to get some extra food in me.
All suggestions welcomed and appreciated.

Re: ? last meal/snack of day!

A meal i do once or twice a day to get a bunch of extra calories in is..

1-1/2 cup whole fat yogart
1/2 cup fruit (usually berries or banana)
1 scoop protein powder
2oz coconut milk
2 tbs blackstrap molasses (for flavoring and huge nutrient boost)

mix it all together and go at it. I should figure out the calories and macros someday.

Your drinking whole milk, whats wrong with yogurt?

Blackstrap is a kind of molasses that has a crazy amount of minerals in it. One Tbs has something like %40 RDA calcium, potassium and 25% magnesium. It tastes like caramel.

Re: ? last meal/snack of day!

Just cook and eat more chicken. Last week I fit four big chickens (~20lb) on my bbq and i was eating til it hurt every meal for a several days til it ran out. $0.99 a pound is hard to beat. I'm planning on spending a few hours or so this Sunday and doing it again.

If I had the choice between some shake or more chicken salad, it's always going to be the chicken salad. Just gotta make sure you have it in advance.

Re: ? last meal/snack of day!

my last meal of the day is has been Greek Yogurt(plain)+Almond milk+almond butter+a whole banana+ a scoop of choc casein protein. When milked together it has the consistency of pudding. ITs good stuff.

Re: ? last meal/snack of day!

My favorite end of the day snack has been:

1/2 cup cottage cheese (usually higher fat)
3/4 unsweetened applesauce
1-2 oz chopped walnuts
cinnamon to taste (probably 1 tsp usually, but I'm a cinnamon freak )

Question Re: ? last meal/snack of day!

Question...what is the latest you all have this last meal/snack before bedtime. I'm in the Navy and typically work 11-12 hour days, get my workout in, and then eat dinner after that at about 7pm. Bedtime at 10pm and up for the next day at 4am. Is 3 hours enough time before bed?
