Client Logs

What do you use to log your clients' progess and sessions (software, Comp. notebook)? I have not found a system that I like yet, but have not had much experience in this realm. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Client Logs

Hi- I would encourage your clients to track their own results and progressions. This allows them to take more "ownership" in what they are doing. At our place, we keep an index card box with a card for each client filed alphabetically. We have them write results, date and loads for every benchmark workout that is performed. We also have them record their max weights for deadlift, squats, etc. This works very well for us. Saves admin time for you- and you can easily track your clients progress by checking their card. Hope this helps

We keep track of the benchmark workouts only (top 3 men and top 3 women go on the board) with a simple excel spreadsheet and they are responsible for the dailies. Less work for us and more onus on them.

Wal-mart sells composition notebooks for $0.50 each, the kind with the stitched pages. Each of my clients gets one with our sticker attached to it. They record what they eat on one side of a page and their workout on the other. Works well for us.

Email me and I'll set you up as a group admin. You can create and add workouts to the log. Your clients can then log in and enter their reps/loads/times. It really helps keeping track of loads of a large body of clients. You can just pull up a report of the last go at a given workout to know what to throw at them.

Re: Client Logs

A good question to ask -- thanks for starting this thread, Randy -- and thanks to everyone for their inputs. Just the sort of info that I needed to help me figure out our transition to client-based record keeping.

Re: Client Logs

I already have my client completing her own log and it is working out great. However, she is extra diligent in this regard. I know not every client is going to be this diligent. I like to also have a way to keep track and I really like some of the ideas that were given. Thank you.

Re: Client Logs

How about tracking memeberships and used sessions? I know alot of the affiliates do unlimited classes, which makes tracking irrelevant, but what about those that offer 2x/week or 3x/week?

Database?

Punch cards?

Big box computer membership cards?

honesty policy?

The way my sifu does it for JKD/Kali class is just a basic Excel sheet with your name on the side and the dates on the top. If you're present you get a check mark where the column and row intersect.
