Are hypers performed with a straight/arched back, bending at the hips (ie. goodmornings), or with a rounded back (ie situps)? Is one better with bodyweight and another better weighted?

I used to do weighted hypers with a rounded back, going past 90 degrees and ended up with lower back pain. Now I do them to 90 degrees with a straight back and this seems to be more secure. Also it gives a nice stretch in my hammies.

Back straight/arched is actually a hip extension. Rounding the back is a back extension. It's a good idea to incorporate both in your routine. I don't think weighted exercises with a round back is a good idea.
