Does anyone out there who competes (in whatever sport it is you play) change the way you eat on tournament or race day?

Here's the situation...

I'm in a 4 on 4 volleyball tournament (outside, sand court) this Saturday. There are at least 10 teams, so it's going to be a long day. Each match is best of 3. Also, as of now it's supposed to be 90 degrees, and in northeastern PA - if it's going to be 90, it's also going to be humid.

The only thing I realize I have to do is drink water, lots of it.

Any advice?

Jason- I would small but frequent meals if you can swing it. Cytomax is an excellent "performance " drink as far as those things go. If you do use something like that give it a test run in advance to make sure it agrees with you. I do NOT recomend using drinks like cytomax for general training. Way too many refined carbs. If you can put togeter your snacks in approx. Zone proportions that may be helpfull as well.

If you feel good in training dont change anything.your body has adaped to whatever you are doing.Hopefully it is in the zone or paleolithic Youre lucky Usually I cant eat untill after my competions I get too nervious.
ASlo dont eat too much and have some power snacks with the proper balance of pro/low glycemic carbs /good fats. the zone is a good refernce.

Devouring his opponent, Cam is usually too full to eat after his fights. And, like a snake, he won't need to eat again for a month - until his next fight. It's a simple system but clearly works.

Thanks for all of the info guys...

Everything worked out great!

Robb, I didn't need to turn to the performance drink until the playoffs...that was 7pm, we started at 10am. I was firing all 8 cylinders for the whole day!

We ended up taking 2nd!
