Got one on the way, I might just go ahead and 100 MPH tape the filler bags from the start.

Are the filler bags busting at the seams, the top, the sides or all of the above?

That's what I'm thinking of doing too. Mine have held up so far without it though, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

I had the splitting problem when I filled the inner bags to the recommended poundage. 45# for large 18# for med. and 8# for small.

I lowered the poundage to 30# for large 10# for med and 5# for small and I haven't had any more problems with splitting bags. That being said, I also haven't had any problems with the bags I reinforced with duct tape or the ones I put in commercial grade garbage bags.
