Crossfit Sadr City, Baghdad

Hey everyone,
I have recently made a blog to facilitate raising enough money to buy my Army Infantry company a package set of roguefitness workout equipment. We're here in Sadr City right now and while we do have some equipment, its minimal and no more than one person can be actively doing an equipment necessary WOD at a time. My goal is to get more people in my unit interested in Crossfit and thereby increase our effectiveness and fitness. Please take a look at my blog and consider donating. Thanks a lot for your time!

Brian

Alright I went ahead and made a new blog with a less potentially copyright infringing URL it is now http://sadrcityfitness.blogspot.comYOU MUST ENSURE YOU ANNOTATE ALL LINKS WHETHER WORK AND FAMILY SAFE.

Not that I believe anyone would be upset about it but rules is rules...

Hey Brian,
You should be hearing from the Operation Phoenix coordinator soon; let me know (here or via PM) if you don't.

Re: Crossfit Sadr City, Baghdad

Lynne,

Yes I had a comment on my blog from a person named James who said they were from Operation Phoenix. He asked how many soldiers we had working out on our JSS. I let him know, and this is for everyone else too, that we have quite a few soldiers from the two companies here working out in the small gym downstairs. They are doing the traditional body building thing. On the blog you see pictures of the crossfit workout area we have set up upstairs. We've only got about 5 guys doing crossfit right now, but we have made a board with some articles from the CF journal that basically explain what its all about (the intro articles). We also have a place that displays the workout of the day where people can put their times, loads, etc. This has been implemented in the last couple of days and we've already had quite a bit of inquiry as to what exactly crossfit entails. We're directing people toward the crossfit website and giving them an explanation of where they can find all the different exercises. So hopefully soon we'll have a decent following here. The only problem that brings is that when I'm teaching other guys about what to do and bringing more people on board, the amount of equipment available at any given time drops to almost nothing.

Now to go find out what exactly Operation Phoenix is all about....

Also I apologize for the lack of annotation for the links... They are all family and child safe. Wont happen again.

Hi Brian,

Good; glad you got the reachout. Operation Phoenix (it's not as scary as its namesake!) http://www.operationphoenix.com/ (WFS)

Wasn't much, but I hope it helps. Be safe over there.
