Re: Afiliates who do not use Barbells?

Robert - you're forgetting the rest of the phrase:

"Constantly varied functional movements executed at high intensity."

At the cert they go into more details about what qualifies as a Functional Movement.

KB don't qualify on majority of the moves as being functional as in Large Load-Long Distance-Fast violating the Large load.
(Now some people can jump on me saying Large is relative.
But KB loads are much less than that of a Barbell move, usually about 50-70% - that makes it quite a light load, that's why in Westside methodology you use light load (60%) on Speed days.).

They even somewhat violate the Fast - due to the swing motion instead of a jump. Long big arc on the Swing portion of the clean and snatch of the KB takes longer than the barbell move.

So what we have is only really Long Distance.

"Constantly varied functional movements executed at high intensity."
That's what CrossFit is.

If it's a large enough load on a 2 handed swing, it's obviously large enough for a DARC swing or a snatch. I didn't forget the rest I just get tired of typing it.

Can't recommend sandbags enough, especially for CrossFit classes in the park.

Sandbags are cheap and a very effective tool.
