Muscle relaxer?

I tweaked my neck the other day and it is still nice and stiff. Is there anything I can take OTC that will act as a muscle relaxer? I am doing the usual moist heat, advil, gentle massage, etc but the advil doesn't seem to do much for the stiffness and whatnot.

Re: Muscle relaxer?

Add in non-painful mobility work.

That tends to be very effective for loosening stuff up in combination with the massage and head

If it still persistents and/or with limited ROM see a chiro or physical therapist who might be able to adjust you if something is out of place

Re: Muscle relaxer?

Thanks, I was planning on working some mobility stuff in as well. It is just a tweaked muscle (the trap more than the neck I guess) so won't need to see a doc just want it to feel better.

Re: Muscle relaxer?

Dysfunction of ribs 1 and 2 can create quite a bit of neck and upper trap discomfort. If you are not feeling better in a few days, seeking out someone who can manipulate your neck and or ribs would probably be helpful.

Re: Muscle relaxer?

It's feeling better today, still was stiff in the morning but after a while it loosened up enough to where I could workout without any real issues.
