Starting Strength + CF?

Over last winter I did Starting Strength with pretty good success. I transitioned into my own style of cf with a "big" lift before a metcon with the metcon being somewhat related to the lift. I would either Squat, bench, dead, power clean, or press then finish with about 15 minutes of metcon or skill work. I noticed that I actually lost some strength (which could be the fault of my lower cal diet) and this aggravated me so I am thinking of doing a mash up of SS and CF but I'm not sure if this is a good idea or bad idea. I think for me personally, I need to do strength lifts often but I also want to be in overall better shape so I was thinking of doing the SS lifts then a short metcon to follow. Is this an ok idea? I workout of my garage gym which is pretty well equipped so most movements I can do. I've heard not to program for yourself but I really like the amount of times per week these big lifts happen with SS and I also like CF. So is there a way to incorporate the two?

My list of things that I would want to do weekly would be this
Press
squat
bench
power clean
deadlift
pull up
ring dips or other dips

Some more than once a week and I'll add in movements like box jumps, burpees, running, hang cleans, wallballs etc where I deem fit.

Re: Starting Strength + CF?

Instead of SS, you should do 70's Big + Metcons. 70's Big is a watered down SS, which allows room for conditioning.

Or you can check out CrossFit Football, which has all of the programming built in for you. Just follow the Amateur program.

Or GSLP, which is a very similar program to 70s Big but is better, in my opinion. Check it out here (WFS) http://www.board.crossfit.com/showthread.php?t=68627

If you want to tweak it to fit specific goals check out the 2nd Edition e-book on the Strength Villain website....it's got a few dozen different variations and plug-ins you can use.

Re: Starting Strength + CF?

looking around there are so many options.

Greyskull
The cojugate westside/cf mash up (only two heavy lifts per week though)
Lascek s&cp

My goal is to gain strength and size, and keep or get a little more conditioned.

My thoughts are all over the place and I'm not sure which one to go for.

I no idea. I'm kind of new around here and not sure what to search for.

I am not trying to bust your balls too much, but if you search SS and CF I am sure you will get some results. Moral of the story is the two of them aren't good together, and there are better programs than SS out there.

I take that back, there is nothing but workout logs because I am sure everybody and their brother has the word crossfit in their log. Sorry, I should not have said that earlier.
