Cool We're making supplements for CrossFitters, and I want your opinion

Hey guys,

I've been participating in the design of supplements for the bodybuilding audience for a while - but trying CrossFit I decided I want to let go of the bodybuilding ways and work on the future of fitness.

Most of the pre-workout supplements on the bodybuilding market are overhyped, loaded with poor ingredients (most companies do not know beyond sugar/caffeine) and in many of my experiences, end up with disappointment. However, I am excited about the opportunity to bring some new ideas into the CrossFit community because I feel you guys (and gals!) have a better understanding of fitness and could appreciate these products better.

I've spoken to a few guys from my gym and gave them a sneak preview of what's coming.. they liked that the ingredients come from natural sources, that we explain what they do, and that they stick to whey protein and fish oils generally. They also mentioned price is a big obstacle. I also hear joint aches are common, and I've been mixing my secret recovery drink to help me stay in one piece after working out. What other needs are we overlooking?

Now, I think the mainstream bodybuilding products are poor but I think we can bring in some exciting stuff into CrossFit before big companies with the advertising bucks step in - so I want to hear from you! What do you think about supplements? What would you want to see?

I want to re-iterate that we have to let go of the notion that supplements are bad - and realize that they are a category of products. I agree that bodybuilding supplements may not be the best, and do not apply to the CrossFit principles, but I am excited about the possibility of designing products to complement the CrossFit lifestyle.

Let's hear from you now!

I'd just like to caution you that we don't allow advertising on here, once you do come up with a product...

Not a bad idea. I suggest organic milk, eggs, yams, and kale in a blender.

Bacon, raw milk, and coconut water. Those 3 things will get you a good start. lol

Honestly I think you will find it's a little different than the BB world. People here are much more into the "natural" stuff than anything else (i.e. "more food is the best suppliment" type mentality). I wish you the best of luck, and look forward to more products but I would only advise you to stay away from the "smoke and mirrors" type stuff that the BB crowd loves.

And yes, Camille Lore is one of the main admins here.

Max, whatever you do, please do not put aspartam, sucralose or any other sh@t into your product. Some people find that stevia gives bad flavor, but i have no problem with that.

Anyway, once you are in that market, could you tell me why artificial sweeteners has to be in the powders? Could protein powder be made without any kind sweeteners, and give flavour naturally? Or be made without any flavor, so I can give flavour myself ( like putting some fruits, or cinnamon in it?)

Or have a sweetened/flavoured and completely unsweetened/unflavoured version of it. A few companies do this.
