Tyre flips

Had my first experience with tyre flips today. Managed to flip a 240kg (540lb) tyre 3 times in 15 seconds... I now want to get a tyre to use at home, and was wondering what some workouts to do with a tyre could be? I'm very new to this sort of training.

There are a lot of couplets and triplets you can do. Just add it in like you would for any other exercise into couplets or triplets etc.

Something we recently did...flip tire, "box" jump on the tire or into the center and out, flip tire, jump, flip, jump etc etc

I have a lot of experience with tires as I compete in strongman...they are fun can be brutal on your body. Two weekends ago I did my 840 tire for 40 flips as fast as I could (under 6 minutes)....my body was wrecked for two days.

Re: Tyre flips

Thanks guys. Where have you found your tyres? I've tried asking around tyre shops in town, but nobody's been able to help me find a big enough tyre.

Try to find an industrial tire supplier. Here Kal-Tire gets their big tires from Tire Tech....so I called the guy at Tire Tech and asked him if he had any old or blown industrial tires around 800#, he said yeah...bring a truck or trailer and come take one...free. It costs them money to dispose of old tires so it saved him money and made me happy. lol

Re: Tyre flips

Something else you might want to try is to flip it for time. I don't do it as much for strongman, but for grappling I like to do intervals. I might flip it for 15 seconds, then rest for 15 seconds and repeat that for 5-9 minutes depending on the length of the match I'm preparing for.

You could try tabata tire flips

This is a good idea. We also "battle". I flip, my buddy flips, I flip, he flips....on and on and on till someone gives up!!
