Question CF and bulking up (an undesired result)

HI, I have been doing CF for about 6 weeks now and I really love it BUT I am concerned that I may be bulking up, yes I know for men that is great but for a chick it is not something I want as I am already big enough (56,148 ). I must admit I have not been following the zone diet or anything, but I am now considering it....does or can CF make a female bulk up or is it more likely to be my diet???

Most likely diet.
Pick one that works -- Zone and Zone/paleo are favorites here -- and DIAL IT IN!

best of luck.

Thanks guys, I had a funny feeling that I would be told that. I guess I am going to have to take a good look at my diet :stir:

Yup, it's one of those situations where you know the right answer, you are just hoping there is another, easier answer.

At 5'6" and 148 lbs, if your lean body mass is high and your body fat low for a female, you may have the genetic pre-disposition to have a more "mesomorphic build:, that is more athletic. Genetics play a huge role in how we look and what type of affect training has on us from an adrogenic respect. So, be far to yourself to realize everyone is packaged in a different wrapper. Keep your protein intake higher, carbs low (no processed carbs/sugars) and fats low. CF has good guidelines on nutrition and some of the lectures are good. Just FYI.

Are you sure about the high protein/low fat? I'll need someone more knowledgable to weight in, but at a low BF % you are going to want your fat intake to be much higher than your protein and carb intake. Fat is simply a fuel, while protein is the builder. IIRC, Annie (or is it Nicole) is on 10 Zone blocks with 5x the fat intake!.

I've added some muscle on my arms (nice!), but the only thing that might be considered "bulk" on me is...fat.

Christina, give us some details. No sense in us guessing wildly that it's your diet. What IS your diet? How much carb are you eating?

Cut the sugar to zero, reduce the carbs dramatically and stick to high-quality carbs... ditto the responses above.

But really, what's your situation now?

Re: CF and bulking up (an undesired result)

Sorry I should have given more details..... I am kinda conscience of what I eat but I do eat carbs - breads, rice, pasta and sugars (ice-cream is my fav food). I try not to eat too much processed food but I am not strict about that....I would say I my normal daily diet is
oats for breakfast with some peanut butter (another fav),
I snack on nuts and fruit mid morning and afternoon,
lunch, well that depends it may be left over dinner (rice, pasta) or a salad sandwich,
dinner, steak/chicken and salad or pasta or rice....have ice-cream a few times a week (my weakness)
I probably have 2 cups of coffee a day (with sugar and milk) and red wine at night.
I do not measure my food so maybe I am eating too much/not enough???

Thanks Darin for your thoughts BUT I am a bit confused by Aarons comment....can anyone else clarify?
